Frozen Nutella Hot Chocolate

Back in Boston, Sanjeev and I used to go to The Paris Creperie in Coolidge Corner all the time (it was practically down the street from his old apartment ). Yes, we went for the crepes, but even more than that, for their incredible frozen Nutella hot chocolate. It was absolutely addictive and decadent. I can’t count the number of times we ordered one.

I’ve been craving it, and wanted to come up with a recipe for it so I could have it whenever I wanted, despite being across the country from the original. Is it a frozen drink? A milkshake? I don’t know. Does it even matter? Whatever you call it, its pretty damn good. I highly recommend it. A dollop of homemade whipped cream on top doesn’t hurt either.

Here’s the recipe:

Makes 2 larger servings, or 4 smaller ones.

Ingredients:

For the Frozen Hot Chocolate:

  • 2 packets of hot chocolate mix

  • 5 tablespoons of Nutella

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream

  • 1 cup of ice

For the Whipped Cream:

  • 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream

  • 1 1/2 tbsp of powdered sugar

  • splash or vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste (about 1/4-1/2 tsp depending on your preference)

Just blend all together and if you want, serve with whipped cream on top (and even a drizzle of extra Nutella if you’re feeling it).
